Getting my feet wet

The Royal Ascot meeting ended on Saturday. Jockey Jimmy Fortune, with five winners, became the champion jockey.

The weather was great for the first three days of Royal Ascot. Friday's weather turned nasty. There was a lot of rain. The going turned to 'good' and then to 'soft.' Outsiders dominated the Friday's proceedings. Indian Ink ran away with the Group I Coronation Stakes. Finsceal Beo, winner of the English and the Irish 2000 Guineas, could not handle the going.

Yeats won the Ascot Gold Cup on Thursday, the traditional Ladies' Day. Yeats won the Gold Cup in 2006. The Aidan O'Brien-trained runner is being quoted at 2-1 by Stan James, a bookmaking outfit, to make it three in row in 2008.

Maraahel won the Hardwicke Stakes on Saturday. He was repeating his success. He beat Mountain High in a photo in 2006. He got the better of Scorpion this year and was reversing the Coronation placings at Epsom on Oaks day.

This is my first blog.
Thanks
